Music Monday: "The City" - Patrick Wolf

Patrick Wolf is a singer-songwriter from South London and I am currently obsessed with his song "The City."

Wolf has collaborated with artists such as Arcade Fire, The Hidden Cameras and Marianne Faithfull and his music covers a wide array of styles ranging from folk to electronica. Having struggled with depression and exhaustion, some of his songs convey a dark melancholy. However, newly in love when writing his new album Lupercalia, his new tracks are on the more optimistic side.

"The City" is exuberant, poppy, jump-and-dance-around track much like my other favorite Wolf song "The Magic Position." The song's lyrics about escaping the city to enjoy life and love makes it the perfect soundtrack when you're daydreaming about vacation during your commute.

The video was shot in Santa Monica, California in December 2010 and the single of "The City" was released March 14, 2011.
