With 7 billion people soon to be on the planet, very little of our world remains undiscovered, untraveled and unlived-in. However, some of these lived in places are a bit more hospitable than others. BBC's new series, Human Planet, explores earth's more extreme environments and the people that make their homes there. The series travels through from the unrelenting heat of central Sahara to the icy cold of the Great White North with sweeping cinematography and up close and personal looks at the cultures that survive there.
I haven't seen any of the series besides the trailer yet, but from that alone, I think the show will be a hit with any fans of anthropology, natural history and gorgeous landscapes. The producers already have proven hits with Planet Earth and Life, so I'm sure Human Planet will be no different.
The 6 hour mini-series airs on the Discovery Channel April 10, 17, and 24 from 8-10 p.m. (EST) each night.
Human Planet is also available for order on DVD and Blueray.
