I wrote about Ridley Scott’s project Life in a Day a few months ago along with a few other projects focusing on our growing population. The project is fascinating on many levels, not the least being the open-sourcing of a feature film. But it’s the glimpses into the lives of others in other cultures that truly make the film resonate.
Joe Walker sorted through over 4,500 hours of footage to create the film and his words above point out what can be so great about pop culture and media in these days of globalization. Despite the political, religious, geographical and economic differences between us, relationships, fear, love and the search for happiness are universal.
I have to admit the trailer chokes me up a bit. Damn that swelling, manipulative music!
Life in a Day is in theaters tomorrow, July 29, 2011.
