I just found there's a street in Warsaw, Poland named after Winnie the Pooh. How cute!
And why is there a street named after Winnie the Pooh in Warsaw? After all, the author of the Pooh stories, AA Milne, was English, not Polish. A little investigation reveals the street was laid out in the redevelopment of Warsaw in the years after WWII. A newspaper, Express Wieczorny, opened the street naming to vote by the local children and thus, the kids' favorite teddy bear and his piglet friend were selected to preside over the street.
I hope there's a bridge nearby where I can play Poohsticks.
